Bigby’s
Café opened its doors to the city
of Cagayan de Oro on December 8,
1998, and it seems that the
Cagayanons can’t get enough of
it. Even the Phlippine Daily
Inquirer (September 6, 2001) has
made great reviews of the
restaurant’s great food, service
and ambiance. Well, we can’t
blame them since Bigby’s offers
the best and biggest food in town
and first-rate service fit for
Kings and Queens. It’s truly an
amazing experience. One can
actually feel being transported
into another place where you can
totally forget the world outside
of Bigby’s.
One
of the great puzzles of Bigby’s
is the name “Bigby’s”. Who
is Bigby and where is he from?
Bigby’s isn’t a person, it’s
an adjective. It came from the
word “Big” because one of the
owners likes everything in big
sizes to fill his gigantic
appetite. Every dish that comes
out in the menu has to go through
his “busog” test, which
actually means that when he eats
it, he has to be fully satisfied.
This test ensures that every guest
will not leave Bigby’s hungry.
The phrase, “I can’t eat
another bite, I’ll just bring it
home with me”, is very common
among diners.

Big word evolved into many things.
Some would say the Big in
Bigby’s means the Big smiles and
