HAPPY BIRTHDAY BIGBY’S CAFÉ!

Bigby’s Café opened its doors to the city of Cagayan de Oro on December 8, 1998, and it seems that the Cagayanons can’t get enough of it. Even the Phlippine Daily Inquirer (September 6, 2001) has made great reviews of the restaurant’s great food, service and ambiance. Well, we can’t blame them since Bigby’s offers the best and biggest food in town and first-rate service fit for Kings and Queens. It’s truly an amazing experience. One can actually feel being transported into another place where you can totally forget the world outside of Bigby’s.

One of the great puzzles of Bigby’s is the name “Bigby’s”. Who is Bigby and where is he from? Bigby’s isn’t a person, it’s an adjective. It came from the word “Big” because one of the owners likes everything in big sizes to fill his gigantic appetite. Every dish that comes out in the menu has to go through his “busog” test, which actually means that when he eats it, he has to be fully satisfied. This test ensures that every guest will not leave Bigby’s hungry. The phrase, “I can’t eat another bite, I’ll just bring it home with me”, is very common among diners.

As people grew to love Bigby’s, the Big word evolved into many things. Some would say the Big in Bigby’s means the Big smiles and voices that greet every customer that enters the restaurant. “Good evening sir, Welcome to Bigby’s!!!” sounds familiar? It’s quite unusual to hear it at first, but after a while, it grows on you. You’ll come looking for it on your next visit. Some people would even dine at Bigby’s just to hear everyone say those friendly greetings one after another.

What keeps people coming back for more? There’s no doubt about it, it’s the deliciously BIG taste that comes in every platter you order in the menu. Brilliant chefs who get inspiration from different cuisines of the world have skillfully prepared every dish. That’s the story behind their slogan “More Flavors to Your World”. They have infused it to the Filipino palate to make it the best sellers that they are. It’s a combination of skill and art to be able to make this, and Bigby’s is lucky enough to have chefs like them.

So, get ready and brace yourselves for extra-big servings of the world’s most popular Noveau American dishes at equally popular prices. Sample the taste teasing chili flappers, the jam packed Bermuda Triangle salad and the other uniquely filling entrees. And top all that with great desserts.
