Loving Father, we, your people, celebrate with joy the 50th anniversary of the elevation of the Church of Cagayan de Oro into an archdiocese.  Your words in the Gospel ring out for us – Duc in altum!  As we remember the past with deep gratitude, help us to live the present with great enthusiasm and to look forward to the future with hopeful confidence.  We praise your divine providence which has guided the faithful people before us and which has built from living stones a temple of your glory.  Increase the spiritual gifts you have given to your Church so that we, nourished at the table of the Eucharistic Bread and the Word of Life, may continue to grow into the city of God.

Following the example of St. Augustine, patron of our archdiocese, let our life’s journey be a constant quest to know you and in finding you to seek you with ever greater love.  Move by the same thirst for you alone as the fountain of wisdom and the source of eternal love, may we be tireless in proclaiming the Good News by word and deed, fostering unity and peace and building up the fellowship of the Church.  Help us to give ourselves once more to your service.  Let our worship be sincere and our sharing at table of Christ make us holy.  As members of his body, may we truly become what we have received.

Launching out into deep water as a Pilgrim Church in the Third Millennium, may we be accompanied by the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Star of Evangelization, the radiant dawn and sure guide.  Growing in faith, holiness, charity and loving service, make this church a sign of your love for all people, and help us to show forth the loving presence of Christ in the world.
